Mrs Jacqueline Marshall – Principal of St Martin of Tours Primary School
Welcome To St Martin of Tours Primary School
St Martin of Tours is a school which operates with the consent of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is operated and governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS).
MACS governs and operates 292 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to continue the mission of Catholic education to proclaim the Good News and equip our young people with the knowledge, skills and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them.
Because the good work of educating the young is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community, School Advisory Councils have been established to provide a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders.
This governance model was designed to ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes, allow parish priests to focus on the mission of education in the parish, enable greater collaboration between schools and ensure greater consistency in school policies and procedures.
More information on MACS is available at www.macs.vic.edu.au.
As Principal of St Martin of Tours School, I take this opportunity to share with you aspects of the unique culture that permeates our school community.
We are fortunate to have highly committed staff members, supportive parents, a welcoming school community and friendly students who are interested in learning. Every effort is made to live our school motto of embracing life’s challenges in all aspects of learning.
St Martin’s is a place where Gospel values are modeled. Respect for each individual is shown and expected. Opportunities for Social Justice are fostered. There is a spirit of joyful learning and genuine friendship amongst all members of our school community.
Our students are foremost in all of our learning and activities. Our teaching and learning is based on contemporary learning styles, skills and resources. Teachers strive to ensure the curriculum is child-centered and meets the needs of all students by delivering a rich, differentiated curriculum. Learning styles and interests are considered when planning lessons and purchasing resources.
Curriculum planning is referenced to current government documents including Aboriginal Studies, Indigenous Perspectives and Sustainability. At St. Martin’s we are fortunate to have qualified specialist teachers for LOTE (Italian), Library, Performing Arts, Physical Education, STEM and Visual Arts.
Thanks to parent fundraising and government grants both internal and external spaces are continually maintained to ensure St Martin’s school is welcoming, engaging, serviceable and safe.
