Parent Involvement

Welcoming Families As Partners in Learning

There are so many ways to get involved and support your child’s learning journey with us

Parent Involvement

At St Martin of Tours we welcome parent involvement, believing that strong links between home and school foster student learning and community engagement.

We aim to provide plenty of opportunities for parents to assist and be part of their child’s learning. They Include:

  • Parents and Friends Association
  • School Advisory Council
  • Parent Helpers
  • Class Representatives
  • Excursions
  • Events such as the Athletics Carnival
  • Fundraising

We understand some parents have more flexibility than others. We value and appreciate any parental involvement. The wonderful parents that make up St Martin of Tours school community are a huge part of what makes St Martin’s such a great school.

Parents and Friends Association

The role of the Parents and Friends Association (PFA) exists to encourage and foster social interactions within the St Martin’s school community and to raise funds to support the school.

St Martin of Tours PFA meets once a term where social and fund raising activities are planned, reports are tabled from sub committees and raised fund allocations are discussed.

Click here to visit the PFA webpage where you will find the latest happenings of our wonderful PFA.

School Advisory Council

The School Advisory Council provides a forum for discussion and discernment, where parent voice and community perspective are available to inform and support the decisions made by the principal and Parish Priest for the good of school and parish, where students’ wellbeing and outcomes are paramount.

The School Advisory Council is not a governing body, but is part of the broader governance framework of MACS. Its role, as determined by the MACS board through the Terms of Reference, supports the overall governance of the MACS system as it ‘is to give consideration to, and advice on, important school matters in order to support the principal and the strategic interest of the school’

The School Advisory Council meets 6 times a year and may support the school and principal by;

• articulating and enacting the school’s vision and mission
• promoting the school’s Catholic ethos and culture
• promoting faith formation and development
• supporting school policies as required
• giving advice to the principal on issues such as school improvement plans and enrolment trends
• engaging in discussion with the principal about the annual school budget and other financial matters
• giving advice to the principal about the school master plan
• providing capital resource planning and maintenance support to the principal.
